On December 28, 2006 friends of Save Venice headed to Russia to celebrate New Year's Eve and to visit some of the finest art collections in the world. In Moscow guests visited the Pushkin Museum, the Old Tretyakov Gallery, the Kremlin, and Red Square. Highlights included the apartments of the Grand Kremlin Palace, a tour of some of the most stunning stations of the Moscow Metro, and fireworks at Kolomenskoye.
An overnight train then carried adventurers to St. Petersburg for visits to the Hermitage, the Russian Museum, Pavlovsk, and Tsarskoe Selo with its stunning Amber Room. Highlights included the Peacock clock at the hermitage, a performance of the Nutcracker at the Mariinsky theatre, and a concert by young soloists at the Backstage restaurant.
