Giandomenico Tiepolo painted the frescoes from 1759 to 1797 for the villa owned by his family in Zianigo. The frescoes were removed from the villa in 1906, and placed on the second floor in Ca' Rezzonico in 1936 in six rooms that reconstruct the original setting of Villa Zianigo. These frescoes are among the most important group of works executed by the artist and show the development of Giandomenico's art over a period of forty years, from the time when he was still under the influence of his father to the more personal style of his later years.
The subjects of the sixty frescoes from the Villa range from Scenes of Punchinello, A Promenade, Minuet, Triumph of the Arts and Bacchanal of Satyrs, among others.
