The Rosand Library & Study Center at Save Venice Celebrates Ten Years
June 2025
On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Save Venice welcomed our supporters in Venice and virtually from around the globe to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Rosand Library & Study Center. The occasion featured presentations on the founding of the library and its ongoing impact, and tributes to the enduring legacy of David Rosand (1938–2014)—art historian, Save Venice Board Member, and advocate for Venice’s cultural heritage. Panelists included scholars, conservators, editors, Rosand’s students, and Save Venice staff: Melissa Conn, Mary Frank, Leslie Contarini, Frederick Ilchman, Lorenzo Buonanno, Giulio Bono, Diane Bodart, and Giorgio Tagliaferro.

Founded in 2015 with the generous bequest of David Rosand’s personal library and research archive, the Rosand Library & Study Center continues to flourish as a welcoming resource for research in Venetian art, history, and conservation. The library boasts a collection of more than 5,000 books and thousands of journals and periodicals, further supplemented by Save Venice’s vast conservation archives featuring documentation pertinent to the restoration of artworks funded by the organization for more than 50 years. Thanks to regular Research & Restoration Roundtables in both Italian and English, as well as student internships and fellowships, the Rosand Library has had a meaningful impact on Save Venice’s mission of advancing Venetian scholarship and conservation.
Save Venice extends its heartfelt gratitude to our generous donors and the Rosand Family for their support of the Rosand Library & Study Center, and our esteemed panelists and guests for participating in the celebration. You can watch the full video of the event here.
