Tour summary: This walking tour focuses on the Castello and Cannaregio districts of Venice and highlights early Renaissance architecture and sculpture restored with funding from Save Venice Inc.. The works of Pietro Lombardo and his sons Tullio and Antonio, as well as those of Mauro Codussi, provide outstanding examples of Venice’s turn to the Renaissance style in the last decades of the 15th century, bringing the era of Venetian Gothic architecture to an end. The works of the Lombardo family and Codussi are similar but distinct, and overlap in several sites along the tour. The walk includes the Gussoni Chapel in the church of San Lio, the church of San Giovanni Crisostomo and the Bernabò Chapel, the Cornaro Chapel in the church of Santi Apostoli, the church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, and the exterior façade of the Scuola Grande di San Marco.
