The Boston Chapter of Save Venice gathered to celebrate “La Sposalizo del Mare” at the Harvard Club in Boston’s Back Bay on Friday, November 2, 2018. Celebrating the traditional marriage of La Serenissima and the Adriatic, the event featured coquillage busts created by artist Francesca Piper Koss. Guests were greeted by singer Austin Burns serenading a mermaid. Rather than toss the traditional wedding ring into the sea, the Boston Chapter auctioned a fabulous 33 Carat Blue Topaz and diamond ring by Paolo Costagli. Other auction donors included Elizabeth Locke Jewels, Maud Jewelry, and The Andover Shop. The grand raffle prize was a bib necklace of Ethiopian opals, pink coral, and diamonds provided by My Domus Aurea. Peak Event Services, one of the lead sponsors, donated the furnishings for the evening.
Proceeds from the event will support the restoration of Jacopo Tintoretto’s ceiling painting of Saint Jerome Presenting Doge Priuli to Justice and Peace in the Palazzo Ducale in Venice.
