Patricia Fortini Brown, Professor emerita of Art History, Princeton University, Save Venice Projects Committee Member.

Art historian Patricia Fortini Brown will draw from her forthcoming book with Oxford University Press to examine women’s roles in early modern Venice. A true story of vendetta and intrigue, triumph and tragedy, exile and repatriation, it recounts the interwoven microhistories of Count Girolamo Della Torre and Giulia Bembo, grand-niece of Cardinal Pietro Bembo and daughter of Gian Matteo Bembo, a patrician with a distinguished career in service to the Venetian Republic.
