This excursion, led by art historians Frederick Ilchman and Davide Gasparotto, explores how Venice’s continued prosperity and cultural achievements in the 16th century relied on the villages and towns of its mainland empire as much as on the glittering capital. We will focus on the attractive cities of Bassano del Grappa and Vicenza, comparing them and considering them in juxtaposition to Venice itself.
*Space for the Carpaccio Celebration and Veneto Excursion is limited, and we expect them both to fill quickly. Excursion is offered exclusively to Celebrating Carpaccio guests and Fellow+ ($1,000) members.
