The 49th Annual General Meeting of Save Venice Boston will take place via Zoom. Informal discussion in smaller breakout rooms will be available from 5:45-6:00 p.m. Bring your own prosecco!
Per the Boston Chapter by-laws, the Annual General Meeting is open to all free of charge. If you wish to renew your Save Venice membership, please visit savevenice.org/membership.
The first part of the meeting will include a brief account of our activities since the AGM of 2019, a review of our restoration projects, a financial statement for the fiscal year, plans for 2020, and the slate of officers for the 2020-21 Executive Committee, to be voted upon by those at the meeting.
The second part of the program will consist of remarks by Peter Fergusson and Janice Hunt on their recollections of the earlier days of Save Venice Boston, including the contributions of John McAndrew. As we approach the 50th anniversary of Save Venice in October 2021, it is appropriate to look back to its foundations.
An architectural historian of late medieval Europe, specializing in Cistercian buildings, Peter Fergusson was a colleague of McAndrew at Wellesley College and purchased the house belonging to Betty and John McAndrew. Fergusson is a two-time past Chair of the Boston chapter and has been a member of Save Venice for nearly forty years. Janice Hunt was a student of John McAndrew at Wellesley College and later chaired the college’s Alumnae Association. She has been a member of Save Venice Boston for many years and has sponsored the AGM at the Chilton Club in recent years.
