Thirty-three Venetophiles flocked to Denver this month for a private tour of the transporting exhibition at the Denver Art Museum, Glory of Venice: Masterworks of the Renaissance led by Curator of Painting and Sculpture, Angelica Daneo. Save Venice Chairman Frederick Ilchman presented the lecture, “Venice and the Oil-on- Canvas Revolution,” for the museum in his capacity as the Mrs. Russell W. Baker Curator of Paintings and Chair, Art of Europe, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

The weekend was inspired and organized by Save Venice Board member and Development Committee Chairman, Denver resident Tina Walls, who identified the special opportunity to take advantage of this rare chance to see Venetian masterpieces from the Accademia Galleries and the Ca d’Oro in the U.S., and to introduce culture- seeking, art enthusiasts to all that Denver has to offer. Tina opened many doors for Save Venice and we are especially grateful.
