On Friday, April 7, Save Venice raised over $1 million at the annual Un Ballo in Maschera, themed Dangerous Beauty, at the Pierre Hotel thanks to the generosity and leadership of chairs Eliza & Alex Bolen, Charlotte & Alejandro Santo Domingo, Lauren & Andres Santo Domingo; honorary chairs Annette de la Renta and Beatrice de Santo Domingo; sponsors Oscar de la Renta and Glenn Spiro, and 400 supporters from around the world. Proceeds from the ball will support Save Venice’s mission to restore the art and architecture of Venice, and the efforts to conclude the ten-year restoration campaign for the church of San Sebastiano.

Inspired by the film “Dangerous Beauty,” the Ball visually transported guests at the Pierre to the age of counts and courtesans in Venice thanks to the dazzling creative vision of Bronson van Wyck, who generously donated his design services. A 200′ custom, hand-painted flag of Venice covered the ceiling and hung over a dining room of tables with rich jewel-toned fabrics, Dutch inspired floral arrangements, and clusters of blood oranges, lemons, and tangerines.

International style arbiter Hamish Bowles presented the evening’s prizes for Best Masks to Alexandra Haime Salanic (Lady’s Award), Di Mondo (Gentleman’s Award), and Dr. Susan Krysiewicz and Thomas Bell (Couple’s Award). Oscar de la Renta and Glenn Spiro graciously donated the prizes. DJ May Kwok donated her performance and kept the party hopping late into the night.
